Coconut Matcha Smoothie

Matcha is high in antioxidants, fiber and vitamins, giving you a healthy energy boost that promotes alertness and brain function. It might be the pick-me-up that you need to get your day moving right along. While matcha contains caffeine naturally, it’s very mild and doesn’t cause jitters like coffee does. 


When paired with our Coconut Macaron Protein and coconut milk, you’ll want to make this smoothie again and again because of how creamy and dreamy it is. We also added in pistachios for extra plant-based protein and a nutty flavor.

 

Japan is traditionally known for high quality matcha. The baby leaves of the green tea plant are kept in shade and picked at the perfect time. You can tell that matcha is good quality by how fine it is ground and if it has a vibrant green color. 

 

You can use matcha for smoothies or for lovely lattes that will provide clean energy without the crash. You can also try using TRU Natural Vanilla Cream Protein in this recipe!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Unsweetened Coconut Milk
  • 2 cups Chilled Water
  • 1 scoop TRU Coconut Macaron Protein
  • 1 tsp Matcha Powder
  • ½ Frozen Banana
  • 1 Tbsp Pistachios

Directions

  1. Add water and matcha to a bowl.
  2. Whisk the matcha in the water so that the powder is fully dissolved.
  3. Pour the matcha blend into the blender.
  4. Add coconut milk, TRU Coconut Macaron Protein, frozen banana and pistachios to the blender.
  5. Blend on high.
  6. Add ice cubes for desired thickness
  7. Pour into a glass, garnish with pistachios and coconut flakes and enjoy!
