Golden Protein Milk

Recipe by Cornelia Sabrina,  @Cornelia_Sabrina on IG

With the cold weather approaching, I always find my way back to hot beverages or drinks that are of warming nature. Turmeric is not only giving you the cozy feels, it also has major health benefits. Known as one of nature’s most potent anti-inflammatory, it also is high in antioxidants and can assist in the recovery as well as prevention of various diseases without any side effects. I highly recommend reading up on this wonderful root.

Today we are making Turmeric Protein Milk. This recipe contains fat as well as black pepper, which is particularly important for proper absorption of curcumin, which is not only giving turmeric it’s bright color, but is the magic behind it’s powerful healing properties. Turmeric supplements often have a combination of ingredients that improve absorption and therefor make it more potent than the root or powder itself. But for this recipe, we want to either use the root or the powder, whichever is easier for you to obtain.

You can enjoy it as is or heat it in a pot and serve it warm. This makes it a perfect drink for the fall andwinter months. Enjoy!

Golden Protein Milk

Recipe makes 1 serving.
Time: 5 minutes prep

Ingredients:
2 ½ cups Unsweetened Vanilla Cashew Milk
1 ½ scoops TRU Protein (Vanilla, Chai Latte, Cinnamon Roll, Unflavored) *
½ tsp Turmeric powder or 1 inch of fresh root
2 Medjool dates **
¼ tsp fresh cracked black pepper (for absorption)
½ tbsp almond butter*** (for absorption)

1) Remove seed from dates and soak in hot water for 5 minutes.

2) Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender for 2 minutes or until smooth.

3) You can serve this either as a cold shake or heat it up in a pot to enjoy as hot beverage, perfect for the cold days coming.

Notes:
* You can also use Banana Maple Muffin, but any dessert series protein will make this shake sweeter, which means you will have to adjust the sweetness.

** If you use the dessert series protein powder or prefer your drink less sweet, feel free to only use one date.

*** I use pure almond butter but feel free to use cashew butter as well. I would avoid peanut butter as the flavor is very overpowering. The fat will help absorb the curcumin found in turmeric.

**** Feel free to use only 2 cups of milk if you prefer a thicker drink
