Double Chocolate Cherry Smoothie

Did you know it’s cherry season? Cherries are in season from mid-May to early June, so grab some fresh cherries and whip up one of these double chocolate cherry smoothies! This recipe tastes more like a milkshake, but with tons of health benefits and protein, this tasty treat is the perfect substitute if you’re craving chocolate cake but also working toward that hot girl summer physique.

Cherries are anti-inflammatory superfoods, high in fiber, potassium, antioxidants and vitamins. Cherry juice is a great option for athletes, especially if you’re taking part in the Summer Shape-Up Challenge, or doing your own freestyle workout routine. There are studies that have shown how tart cherry juice and powder can help with muscle soreness and accelerate muscle recovery. That’s why we recommend picking up some cherry juice next time you’re at the grocery store and try adding it to your smoothie.

Cacao is a great addition to any smoothie because it naturally boosts circulation and has many health benefits. We recommend picking up some organic cacao powder and 100% tart cherry juice with 0 added sugar for maximum health benefits. We also suggest getting unsweetened oat milk or almond milk and always looking out for sneaky added sugar in the ingredient lists of the food you’re buying. Fruit already has natural sugar, and adding TRU protein will add plenty of flavor and satisfying sweetness to your shakes and smoothies.
